Harabel Contemporary Art Platform will host its first open talk with guest speakers Marta Bianchi and Martina Angelotti, respectively the Artistic Director and the President of Careof, the first Italian public archive of artists’ videos and portfolios, based in Milan.
Funded in Milan in 1987 as a non-profit organization, Careof was born from the desire to encourage a reconfiguration of the process relating art and society, for and by the artists whom in those years animated both the political and cultural arenas of the city.
Marta and Martina will share Careof’s experience in documenting the work of contemporary artists and giving open access to the public, facilitating professional research and encouraging artistic, social and policy potentials.
Martina will talk more in detail about the importance of the archive for the contemporary art scene. By describing Careof’s archive role, she will guide us through the innovative methods used to give life to it, analyzing the value of the archive for all art actors using it: artists, curators, researchers, writers, critics, hosting organization, as well as the wider public.
The speakers:
Martina Angelotti is a curator and art critic. Her research focuses on the relationship between art and public space, through the analysis of themes, languages and attitudes of complex artistic projects, performances, experimental cinema and workshops. She is the Artistic Director of Careof Milan (careof.org) and since 2007 she is curator and co-founder of ON (onpublic.it), an indipendent project born in Bologna, which organizes workshop and artistic interventions in public spaces. Currently she is in charge of a three-year research project within the European network in situ, exploring the theme of “value”.
Marta Bianchi holds a degree in Arts Management from the Catholic University of Milan. Since 2009 she started working at Careof and later became Corporate Projects Manager. Since 2013 she is in charge of leading “ArteVisione”, a project developed in collaboration with Sky Italia and which featured the production of art pieces by Yuri Ancarani, Francesco Bertocco, Giuseppe Fanizza, Riccardo Giacconi, Martina Melilli, Luca Trevisani and Zimmerfrei. In July 2016 Marta was appointed as the Chairman of Careof and together with Martina Angelotti and Lia Manzella, they have the honour of leading this association beyond its 30th anniversary.

Founded in 1987 in the outskirts of North Milan, Careof immediately distinguished itself as a place of indeterminacy and radical subversion, characterised by fluid margins and constant motion. In 2002 Careof leaves the suburbs for the city and moves to Fabbrica del Vapore, an industrial building where it is still located. Careof video archive is a rich collection reflecting the last 40 years of contemporary art research on moving images, specifically in Italy. It includes over 8,000 pieces and is the most important collection of video art in Italy. The catalogue holds over 7,000 artworks, from the first experiments made in the 70s to works by the latest generations, as well as about 1,000 videos documenting exhibitions, conferences, performances and art events of international relevance.

Martina Angelotti është kuratore dhe kritike arti. Hulumtimi i saj përqendrohet në marrëdhënien midis artit dhe hapësirës publike, si dhe në analizimin e tematikave, gjuhëve dhe qëndrimeve të projekteve artistike komplekse dhe pjesëmarrëse, zakonisht përmes performancës, kinemasë eksperimentale dhe workshop-eve. Ajo është Drejtore Artistike e Careof Milano (careof.org) dhe që nga viti 2007 është kuratore dhe bashkëthemeluese e ON (onpublic.it), një projekt i pavarur i krijuar në Bolonjë, i cili organizon workshop-e dhe ndërhyrje artistike në hapësirat publike. Aktualisht ajo është përgjegjëse për një projekt trevjeçar brenda rrjetit evropian, një projekt kërkimor mbi temën “vlera”.
Marta Bianchi është diplomuar për Menaxhim Artesh në Universitetin Katolik të Milanos. Në vitin 2009 filloi të punojë në Careof dhe më pas, në vitin 2011, u emërua menaxhere e projekteve të kësaj organizate. Prej vitit 2013 ajo është përgjegjëse për drejtimin e projektit ArteVision, i cili zhvillohet në bashkëpunim me Sky Italia. Ky projekt mundësoi prodhimin e veprave të artit nga Yuri Ancarani, Francesco Bertocco, Giuseppe Fanizza, Riccardo Giacconi, Martina Melilli, Luca Trevisani dhe Zimmerfrei. Në korrik të vitit 2016 Marta u emërua Presidente e Careof-it, ku së bashku me Martina Angelotti-n dhe Lia Manzella-n kanë nderin të udhëheqin këtë organizatë të krijuar 31 vjet më parë.
Careof është një organizatë jofitimprurëse e artit bashkëkohor me vendndodhje në Milano (www.careof.org). E themeluar në vitin 1987, në periferinë veriore të Milanos, Careof u dallua menjëherë si një hapësirë e lirë e përmbysjes rrënjësore, karakterizuar nga kufijtë e ndryshueshëm dhe lëvizja e qëndrueshme.
