Exhibition / When Palettes (everything) Become Paintings / Fani Zguro / Gallery70 / October 20 – November 10, 2021 / Tirana
Gallery70 presented Fani Zguro’s personal exhibition “When Palettes (everything) Become Paintings”. The exhibition was open for the public from October 20 to November 10, 2021, in Tirana.
The exhibition consisted of a series of works entitled When Palettes (everything) Become Paintings (2021) and a video-installation Pushing An Elephant Upwards (2007).
When Palettes (everything) Become Paintings features six works of the same shape and content, displayed in a horizontal line on the gallery walls. This series of works is realized with a mixed technique of acrylic on magazine paper. The pages of the magazines, folded in four, were originally used as a palette for mixing the paints in the artist’s studio. From a careless throwing of paints on them, the pages now appear as paintings, thus not remaining simply as the remnants of a creative process. In these papers you can see ordinary images of magazines which are covered by brushstrokes of different colors.
“Pushing An Elephant Upwards” (2007) is a video-installation that shows several car headlights during an evening trip while the camera follows the moving vehicles. The car headlights are out of focus and move unobtrusively in all areas of the screen. They form a kind of artificial sparkling habitat and the possibility of placing them in a row is like having to lift an elephant in the air.

Ekspozitë / When Palettes (everything) Become Paintings / Fani Zguro / Gallery70 / 20 tetor – 10 nëntor 2021 / Tiranë
