HARABEL Contemporary is pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the public art installation “bleta” by artist Sislej Xhafa, on July 1st 2021, at the Landfill of Tirana.

This work is the fourth public art oeuvre installed in Tirana through Free Art Project, a project by HARABEL Contemporary Art Platform, following the installation of “The Calligraphy” by Adrian Paci, “EnoughIsEnough” by Alban Muja and “Zâni” by Sadik Spahija.

Through this project HARABEL aims to bring the public closer to contemporary art, through the installation of works of art in public and free spaces, avoiding the door-barrier of galleries or museums, emphasising the belief that art is an educational and formative tool of the individual, grower of intellectual thought, of critical thinking and of imagination, and not only decorative.

“bleta” will be installed on top of one of the hills of Tirana’s (Garbage) Landfill, a vast area in the periphery of the city, now underground capsuled and covered in trees and greenery. Now a private property, this area is designed to become in the future an open park. Harabel aims to transform this area into a contemporary art sculpture park, a long-term project that starts with the proposition of bleta by Sislej Xhafa. 

Bio of the artist

*Sislej Xhafa (b, in 1970) in Pejë, Kosova. Sislej Xhafa lives and works in New York. He is known for his artistic investigation into the social, economic and political realities associated with the various complexities of modern society. Xhafa has over the years highlighted his artistic work on economic and social themes, political realities, as they interact with the protean variety of modern society. His investigations, for example, into phenomena of tourism or forced illegality use a minimal language and they are at the same time ironic and subversive, practicing indifferently a wide range of media, from sculpture to drawing, from performance to photography.

Platforma HARABEL ka kënaqësinë t’ju ftojë në inaugurimin e veprës publike “bleta” nga artisti Sislej Xhafa, në 1 korrik 2021, te Landfilli i Tiranës.

Kjo vepër është e katërta që instalohet ne Tiranë në kuadër të projektit Free Art të Platformës së Artit Bashkëkohor HARABEL, pas instalimit të veprave “Bukurshkrimi” të Adrian Pacit, “EnoughIsEnough” të Alban Mujës dhe “Zâni” nga Sadik Spahija.

Përmes këtij projekti HARABEL synon afrimin e publikut me artin bashkëkohor, përmes instalimit të veprave të artit në hapësira publike, pa nevojën e hyrjes në galeri apo muze, si përforcim i qëndrimit të konsoliduar të HARABEL se arti është një mjet edukues dhe formues i individit, rritës i mendimit intelektual, mendimit kritik dhe imagjinatës, e jo thjesht dekorues.

“bleta” do të instalohet në majë të një prej kodrave të Landfillit të Tiranës, një zonë e gjerë në periferi të qytetit, e cila është e kapsuluar nëntokë dhe e mbuluar me pemë dhe gjelbërim. Aktualisht pronë private, kjo zonë synohet të kthehet në të ardhmen në një park të hapur për publikun. Harabel synon ta shndërrojë këtë zonë në një park skulpturash arti bashkëkohor, një projekt afatgjatë që fillon me instalimin e propozimit të veprës “bleta” të artistit Sislej Xhafa.

Bio e artistit 

* Sislej Xhafa (l., më 1970) në Pejë, Kosovë. Sislej Xhafa jeton dhe punon në Nju Jork. Ai është i njohur për hulumtimin e tij artistik në realitetet shoqërore, ekonomike dhe politike që lidhen me ndërlikimet e ndryshme të shoqërisë moderne. Xhafa gjatë viteve ka theksuar punën e tij artistike mbi temat ekonomike dhe sociale, realitetet politike, pasi ato ndërveprojnë me larminë proteane të shoqërisë moderne. Hulumtimet e tij, p. sh., mbi fenomenet e turizmit ose paligjshmërisë së sforcuar përdorin një gjuhë minimale dhe ato janë në të njëjtën kohë ironike dhe përmbysëse, duke vënë në përdorim në mënyrë indiferente një gamë të gjerë mediash, nga skulptura te vizatimi, nga performanca te fotografia.
